Algebra 1

Hi my name is Alisha,

I'm in 7th grade and I have straight A's and my teacher wants me to take the Algebra 1 and Algebra honors test for extra high school credit and college and stuff like that and to see what class I need to be in for 8th grade. If I do good on this test I will make it into Algebra 1 and if I do really good I will skip regular math,advanced math,pre algebra,and algebra.

I need ideas on how to prepare for this test that's tomorrow. So I need information on algebra 1 and algebra honors.

Dear Alisha,

First of all, congratulations on your great academic achievements! You must be very proud of your grades and accomplishments in school.

The test that you are about to take is going to assess your current knowledge of math in order to determine the placement for next year.

Although I know you want to prepare for the test by studying, the best thing that you can do is get a good nights rest and eat a good breakfast so that you are working up to your full potential when taking the test.

If you want to study the night before, I would look over the work that you've completed this year and go over any skills or concepts that you had difficulty with.

You want this test to accurately measure your knowledge and skills at this point in the year. No one expects you to know Algebra 1 at this point if you haven't taken the course. Trying to teach yourself Algebra 1 just for the test will only frustrate you.

So, my recommendation is to go into the test fresh and ready and do your very best. You will then be placed in a class that will allow you to continue your success next year.

Congratulations again on all of your accomplishments.
