Functions and Rate of Change
by: Karin

In any linear function, the rate of change is the slope.

Given: f(x)=x/3+2
The slope of this function is the coefficient of x. x/3 is the same as 1/3x. Therefore, the slope is 1/3.

If the slope is 1/3, then the rate of change is also 1/3.

Hope this helps,
Karin
