The rate of change is the same as finding the slope of two points. Therefore, if you are working with a graph, identify the two points for which you need to find the rate of change.

Then calculate the rise/run from point A to point B. The slope is also the rate of change.
Depending on the problem, the rate of change is often written as a decimal instead of a fraction.
