Please help me to solve this two step equation.
18 = -a + 2

Two Step Equation Solution

This is a two step equation because the variable term is negative. So, here's the solution:

18 = -a +2
18 - 2 = -a + 2 -2 Subtract 2 from both sides
16 = -a Simplify
16/-1 = -a/-1 Divide by -1

-16 = a

You have to divide by negative 1 in order to make a positive.
