Two Step Equations

In this problem, you have a fraction on the left hand side. You must first get rid of the denominator by multiplying everything by -8.

-8 (s-8/-8) = -8(-1)

On the left hand side, the -8 in the numerator and the -8 in the denominator simplify to 1 (or cancel out), so you are left with:

s-8 = 8

Now you must get rid of -8 on the left by adding 8 to both sides.

s-8 +8 = 8+8

s = 16

You answer is s = 16
