Use of Apostrophe in Inequalities
by Raja Bhattacharya
The other day I was helping my son with his inequality/inequation problems and came across an expression A' U B. I know about the A U B but am not sure what A' stands for. I know that in Boolean algebra they use the apostrophe to mean a logical NOT, but have no clue as to the significance of this apostrophe in inequality problems.
