Nicole,

161/2 is an improper fraction. This also means 161 divided by 2. If you divide, you will have an answer of 80.5. You get a decimal because 161 is an odd number, therefore, it is not divisible by 2.

You could also write this improper fraction as a mixed number. 161 divided by 2 is 80 and you have 1 left over. Therefore, the mixed number is 80 and 1/2.

These are two ways that you can rewrite 161/2.
